Learn more about our commitment to safeguarding children.
We are proud to stand as a leader in early childhood education and care operating for more than 30 years. As a non-for-profit, we are dedicated to putting children and families first, reinvest in our services, offer our educators above-award wages, and continually enhance our learning environments and programs to provide the best possible start for every child.
Our Joondanna team includes qualified and experienced educators, including a Qualified Early Childhood Teacher. We pride ourselves on having long-standing educators, with most of our team having worked with Wanslea for numerous years, many for more than eight years. This consistency helps us build strong, trusting and lasting relationships with the children and families in our care.
Our curriculum is based on the Early Years Learning Framework and supports children to learn through play, discovery and exploration. We design engaging programs that reflect each child’s individual interests, needs and strengths.
We integrate KIDDO to support physical literacy and active play, and the Pyramid Model to strengthen social and emotional skills. Our indoor and outdoor environments are thoughtfully designed to reflect these approaches.
We use Storypark, a secure online platform, to share updates, photos, learning observations, and milestone celebrations with families in real time. We value open communication and strong partnerships with families. Our team works closely with parents and carers to keep them informed and engaged in their child’s learning and development every step of the way.
Wanslea is affiliated with the NDIS, giving our team easy access to a wide range of resources and support services. This enables us to provide valuable guidance to families, connect children with early intervention opportunities when needed, and ensure every child receives the support they need to thrive.
This year marks 14 incredible years with Wanslea, and what a journey it has been. I began as a student, eager to learn and grow, and over the years I have had the privilege of evolving both personally and professionally. Now, I proudly serve as the centre director at our Joondanna Centre.
Our approach to early learning is unique due to our child-focused programming, strong emphasis on community and family support, and our commitment to providing high-quality education and care as a not for profit organisation. We prioritise creating a sense of belonging and individual development for each child, while also supporting families and educators.
What parents are saying
Friendly, caring and passionate
“My son has been coming here since he was 9 months old and he is now almost 2 and a half. From the moment we first enquired till now, the staff have been amazing. So friendly, caring and very passionate about what they do. My son loves it there and we love the support we receive as parents. I would not hesitate to recommend to anyone who is looking for a fantastic Early Learning Child Care centre.”

Both of my sons loves this daycare, we’ve joined this centre for over 7 years, some of the teachers who taught my old son are now teaching my younger son. The teachers have played significant role in my sons’ development and help them become confident, independent, caring, loving, and good learners. The staff are very professional and friendly, the food are nice, centre management & communications are effective and efficient. This is a daycare you can trust to give your child the best potential, they will love it and make a lot friends there!

Wonderful service! We have been with the centre for over 6 years (both kids attended) and the staff have been amazing. There is a high retention of staff which means that the staff are happy and looked after, therefore our kids were happy. They had continuity and structure to their days. Transition between rooms was seamless, communication of high standard and meals have always been a hit (with the chef often sharing recipes so we can replicate at home). We will be sad to leave next year as our youngest starts school. Kasey you have been amazing to deal with and blossomed into a wonderful centre manager. Well done girls for creating such a gorgeous environment that parents feel safe and comfortable leaving their kids in.

FAQs
When do I enrol my child?
We recommend contacting our team as early as possible to secure availability. In most cases, children can be enrolled at any time throughout the year, subject to vacancies.
What hours do you offer?
We understand not all families have the same routine, so our programs are on offer five days a week, 52 weeks a year. Our centres offer longer hours and flexible options as well.
Which age groups do you care for?
We care for children from six weeks up to school age, with some of our centres also offering Outside School Hours Care. Our rooms are designed around age-specific needs and typically follow these groupings: babies (6weeks – 18 months), toddlers (18 months – 3 years), kindergarten (3 – 5 years),and Vacation Care/Before & After School Care (5 – 12 years).
How much does it cost for my child to attend?
Our services are approved by the Australian Government, which means families may be eligible for assistance through the Child Care Subsidy (CCS). To learn more, visit www.mychild.gov.au, or try the Subsidy Estimator by clicking here. Additional funding is available for families who identify as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, as well as for vulnerable children and families experiencing temporary financial hardship. Depending on your personal circumstances, you may also be eligible for other government support. For more information, visit www.mychild.gov.au or www.humanservices.gov.au, or speak with our Centre Director for guidance.
What curriculum do you follow?
Our program is guided by the Australian Government’s Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF). This national framework outlines the key principles, practices, and learning outcomes that support and enhance children’s development from birth to five years of age, including their transition to school.
What qualifications do your staff hold?
Each centre has an Educational Leader who coaches and mentors Educators to develop high-quality educational programs. In addition, a dedicated Pedagogy Practice Lead oversees best practice across all centres. All Educators either hold, or are actively working towards, a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care. Atleast half of the team also hold a Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care, and depending on the size of the centre, some centres employ Bachelor-trained teachers. Every team member who works directly with children holds a current Working with Children Check, Police Clearance, Child Safe training, approved qualifications, and the appropriate first aid certification, ensuring children are safe and well supported.
What if my child has additional needs?
We welcome and support all children. Our staff are trained to care for a variety of additional needs, and will undertake further training if required to ensure your child receives the best support. We also have access to our internal Inclusion Support Team for guidance, training, and additional assistance. By working closely with you, we aim to achieve the best outcomes for your child.
What extras are on offer?
Our centres provide a range of extras to support your child’s learning and make life easierfor busy families. These may include nutritious meals, sunscreen, and a variety of excursions and incursions.
What type of food do you provide? Do you cater to dietary requirements?
Yes, we accommodate children with alternative meal needs. We have strict policies and procedures for preparing and serving food to children with severe allergies, intolerances, or specific lifestyle or cultural preferences. If your child requires alternative meals, we will discuss the process with you in detail to ensure their needs are properly met.
How are behavioral issues managed?
We aim to create an environment where every child feels safe, secure, and supported, while encouraging a strong sense of identity. If we notice behaviors that are affecting other children or educators, we will discuss our observations with you and work together to find the best approach to support your child’s development.
